Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Struggling to overcome an addiction as a college-aged individual is never easy, especially when living a fast-paced life and balancing other challenges. If you are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse in Austin, consider an intensive outpatient program (IOP) to help you achieve both the short and long-term goals you have set for yourself.

Participating in treatment dramatically increases the likelihood of finding and maintaining sobriety. Our intensive outpatient program with group therapy will allow you to connect to other college-age individuals that can help you on your path of recovery.

What Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

Intensive outpatient treatment, also commonly referred to as IOP, is a form of treatment for individuals transitioning from a higher level of care or balancing treatment with other responsibilities, such as school.

Our intensive outpatient program is facilitated by licensed, masters-level clinicians that specialize in treating young adults with addiction and mental health challenges using behavioral therapy. Treatment includes three group therapy sessions, as well as one individual therapy session per week.

What Level of Care Is IOP?

Intensive outpatient programs, or IOPs, do not require individuals to relocate or live within a treatment facility during the program. Participants in the Alpha 180 IOP are welcome, but not required to reside in our sober housing.

Unlike traditional outpatient programs, intensive outpatient programs meet multiple times per week for group and individual therapy. Sessions cover a variety of topics, including mental health wellness, evidence-based 12-step programming, and addiction education.

The level of care provided by intensive outpatient programs is less than inpatient treatment settings but far more structured than individual therapy alone. Choosing an intensive outpatient program is optimal for individuals transitioning out of a residential treatment setting or individuals that have other obligations, such as school.

Participants in Alpha 180’s intensive outpatient program (IOP), have access to our sober clubhouse as well. Students may use the clubhouse as a space to study or socialize with sober peers, as well as attend 12-step meetings. Our community-centered approach helps intensive outpatient program participants build friendships with others their own age. Choosing a treatment program that specializes in treating college-age young adults will help you see the fellowship and fun recovery offers!
